Family Message Board

Age: Preschool and up
Time: An hour or more
Type of activity: Arts and Crafts

This project makes a great wall decoration – and you may never forget another appointment!

Materials needed:
· Heavy cardboard (several sheets)
· 15 sheets of newspaper
· A piece of fabric 18" x 23"
· Ribbon
· Ruler
· Thick, tacky glue
· Scissors
· Push pins

What to do:

Step One: Cut the newspapers and cardboard so that each sheet measures 8 1/2" x 11.

Step Two: Lay the fabric flat on a table and place the stack of newspapers in the center.

Step Three: Place a sheet of cardboard directly over the newspapers.

Step Four: Carefully bring one side of the fabric over the cardboard edge and glue it in place.

Step Five: Repeat this step for each of the sides of the message board. Be careful to make sure the newspapers stay in place.

Step Six: Let the glue dry.

Step Seven: Wrap a few pieces of ribbon around the message board (widthwise or lengthwise) and glue the ends to the back of the cardboard.

Step Eight: Glue the remaining piece of cardboard over the back of the message board. This will provide additional support and hide the edges of fabric and ribbon.

Step Nine: Stick the push pins in the fabric. Now you're ready to post your messages, photos, and clippings.
