- The wagon maker who made the name famous, Clement Studebaker (1831–1901) was a fourth-generation descendant of Clement and Anna Catherine Studebecker, who arrived in Philadelphia in the ship Harle from Rotterdam in 1736. They settled with other Germans in what is now Adams Co., PA.
