Have you ever wondered how the wood in your furniture can bend without breaking? Well now you and your child can become expert craftsmen and bend wood yourselves!

Materials Needed

  • Popsicle sticks
  • A bowl of hot water
  • Rubber bands
  • Glue
  • Cardboard (optional)

    What To Do

Step One: Soak the popsicle sticks in water for about a half an hour.

Step Two: Take the sticks out of the water (make sure to test the water to see if it's too hot) and gently bend them into shapes.

Step Three: Wrap a rubber band around each molded stick to hold the shape.

Step Four: Let the wood dry for about an hour.

Step Five: Remove the rubber band.

Step Six: Your child can decorate the sticks or glue a bunch together to make different designs. Using a piece of heavy cardboard paper, she can glue the sticks in a design to create her own mural!
