Car Air Freshener

car travel_85x85.gifSummer's a great time to break out the suds and sponges and teach your child about taking care of the family car. After everything's squeaky clean, your child can create a car freshener to give your wheels a cool, fresh scent.

Here's what you need to make your own car freshener:

  • Construction paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors (we used the kind that cuts zigzag lines)
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Hole punch
  • Pine needles, rosemary needles, dried mint, or dried lavender
  • Essential oils (to keep your freshener smelling new!)

Step One: Cut the construction paper. We cut ours in the shape of a pine tree, but you can use any shape you'd like: a flower, apple, leaf, or maybe a doll. Punch a hole at the top of your shape. Add a couple drops of essential oil to your dried needles or herbs.

Step Two: Spread glue on one side of the paper and sprinkle with a plentiful supply of dried needles or herbs. Let dry, then do the same on the other side of the paper. Put the pipe cleaner through the hole and hang it over the dashboard!
