Shell Paintings
Materials
- Seashells (chalkier white ones with a large, smooth inner surface work best)
- Acrylic paints and brushes
- Jar of fresh water
Directions
Rinse shells in fresh water. Let them dry. Paint the inside, letting each color dry before adding the next for a crisp, illustrated effect, or allow the paints to run together for a more modern look. Leave the shells out in the sun to dry. For a taste of summer in the middle of the winter, go to a craft store and buy shells. Turn the heat up in your house, put on bathing suits, lay an old sheet on the floor, and pretend to be on the beach painting shells.
