Mini-Popsicle-Stick Kite
Mini-Popsicle-Stick Kite
Age: Preschool and up
Time: An hour or more
Type of activity: Arts and Crafts
Not only can you fly these kites, but you can also use them as party favors or place cards!
Materials Needed:
· 4 popsicle sticks (or more)
· Glue
· Tissue paper
· Yarn
· Scissors
· Stapler
What to do:
Step One: Arrange the four popsicle sticks in a diamond shape. (To make a bigger kite, double the amount of popsicle sticks you use to make the diamond. For example, you can use two sticks for each side of the diamond.)
Step Two: Make sure that the ends of the sticks overlap each other.
Step Three: Add a drop of glue to the end of each popsicle stick and glue the sticks together in the diamond shape. Let the glue dry.
Step Four: Lay the diamond on top of a piece of tissue paper and trace around the diamond with a pencil.
Step Five: Decorate the tissue paper with stickers, glitter, or other decorative items.
Step Six: Cut the diamond out.
Step Seven: Lay the tissue paper diamond on top of the popsicle sticks so the two shapes match up.
Step Eight: Using small drops of glue, carefully glue the tissue paper to the popsicle sticks.
Step Nine: Cut a piece of ribbon or yarn to use as the kite's tail. Staple the ribbon to the bottom section of the kite.
Step Ten: Your mini-kite is ready to fly high!
