Fancy Duds of the Future
Fancy Duds of the Future
Required:
- Drawing supplies
Optional:
- Magazines, junk mail, and other disposable picture sources
What will the well-dressed person of the future look like, say, in the year 2300, 2500, or 3000? Fashion trends certainly do change over time. (You and your kids might want to browse through an encyclopedia and remind yourselves what people were wearing 100, 200, 300 years ago or more.)
Perhaps the tie for men as we know it will be out; instead, men will wear two ties, one on each shoulder, with tassels or pompoms at the ends. Maybe women will feel in high style wearing knee pads with giant corsages on them. And for children? Why, the multicolored elbow cover will be just the thing to be hip.
Have everyone sketch and share his or her visions of future fashion. Or they can cut out their costumes of the future and paste them on figures from magazines. For the ultimate, try making some of these sartorial inventions and putting on an after-dinner fashion show.
Won't you look lovely with that felt nose cover and matching Popsicle-stick lapels!
