More: 50 Questions to Ask Your Kids to Get Them Talking

You can use our list of suggested “Never Have I Ever” questions, or come up with your own on the fly. This is a great way to get your kids to open up and learn something new about each other in a casual stress-free way. It’s also a great game for a birthday party or sleepover with friends.

We’ve organized our suggestions into five different categories for you: School, Family, Funny, Gross, and Activities.

How to Play Never Have I Ever

The object of “Never Have I Ever” is to read off each question and see who has done it before, and who has never. There are a couple of different ways you can keep score, or you also can just go around asking questions to spark conversation without there being an overall winner.

Yes/No Paddles

Give each player a paddle that says “Yes” on one side, and “No” on the other. As you ask each question they must turn the paddle to whichever side applies to them. If you’re making your own, all you need is a paper plate. You can color-code yes with green and no with red so children too young to read can still participate. After asking a question, take a look around at the different paddles and see how everyone answered.

Hold Up 10 Fingers

For this version, have each player hold up 10 fingers. Every time they answer yes to one of the questions, they must fold down one finger. The player with the last finger held up wins the game!

10 Pieces of Candy

Give each player 10 pieces of candy. Every time they answer yes to one of the questions, they must eat a piece of candy. The player with the last piece of candy left is the winner!
