Hey peeps! As we enter into Holy Week you may be looking for some fun Easter activities to enjoy with your family. While almost everyone's Easter traditions involve the obvious egg hunt, we have some eggcellent Easter fun that the whole family can enjoy! Check out this mix of indoor and outdoor games and activities for kids of all ages to include in your Easter celebration!

Fun Indoor Easter Activities

Sometimes, the weather around Easter isn't the greatest. Or, maybe you just want to keep the chaos contained to the house this holiday! Consider these great indoor Easter activities.

1. Jelly Bean Guessing Games

Here's an easy indoor game for all ages! Simply fill a jar with jelly beans and ask each family member to guess how many candies there are. The winner (the closest without going over) takes all!

Another jelly bean-themed game involves asking players to guess the correct flavor of fancy jelly beans they taste, like Jelly Belly treats that taste like popcorn or wasabi.

2. Easter Egg Charades

Another way to get the whole family involved is to engage in a game of charades. Put the prompts in Easter eggs and have each person act out the word or phrase. Just remember to keep it simple for the preschool-age participants. "Bunny", "duckling", "carrots", "chick", "prayer", and "Easter egg hunt" are just a few of the words and phrases that you can act out!

3. Easter Bingo

Who doesn't love a game of bingo? There are tons of free printable Easter bingo cards that you can find online and players can use some delicious jelly beans and other sweet Easter goodies to mark the squares that they get throughout the game. Finally, have an array of prizes that young children, older kids, and adults will all appreciate!

Fun Outdoor Easter Activities

Time to let the kids loose and get some fresh air out while they're having fun! These outdoor activities are great options for any Easter gathering.

4. Egg and Spoon Race

This good old-fashioned outdoor game is the perfect way to get the whole family involved! Egg and spoon races date back to the late 1800s. All you need are eggs (hard-boiled are the least messy) and metal or wooden spoons for each participant. Race individually or relay-style.

5. Easter Bunny Corn Hole

This classic outdoor game has been around since the 14th century! Why not make it eggs-tra special this year and make the corn hole boards shaped like a bunny? Grab some cardboard, markers, and scissors to create a DIY hungry bunny for your game of bean bag toss! Cutouts can be located where his mouth and tummy are to ensure that he gets his fill this holiday too.

6. Plant Flowers

Easter symbolizes rebirth, so what better day to plant some tulips and daffodils with your budding gardener? Fall is technically the season to plant bulbs in most regions, but you can plant them indoors any time of year, or buy flowers already in bloom and transplant them outdoors on Easter.

Delicious Easter Recipes and Food Activities

Like other holidays, Easter has a reputation for certain foods—chocolate, roast ham, hot cross guns...and even more chocolate. Below, we've gathered some irresistible ideas for edible activities this Easter!

7. Build Peep Houses

Peeps are adorable marshmallow snacks that make their way into Easter baskets every year. Once opened, they need a place to go! Grab some graham crackers, frosting, jelly beans, and leftover Easter candy to build your chicks and bunnies a little home. Just like gingerbread houses, this seemingly simple activity is a great way to let the creative juices flow and enjoy some sweet treats throughout the process.

8. Make Chocolate Fondue

Encourage your kids to share their Easter loot with Mom and Dad! Melt down that giant chocolate bunny and dip those marshmallow chicks into a bubbling bowl of fondue. (Hint: This will also get your kids to consume some fruit on this sugary-sweet holiday.)

9. Create Pastel Deviled Eggs

This traditional Easter brunch menu item is always better with a burst of color! The recipe will remain the same, but once boiled and peeled, let the egg white halves soak in a mixture of water, food coloring, and white vinegar. (Don't worry, the vinegar flavor will not stick around!) Once you have reached the desired color, remove the now pastel-colored eggs and place them on paper towels to drain and dry. Then, add the filling like normal!

10. Make Brunch or Easter Dinner Together

Involve your kids in the kitchen by letting them make meal or dessert items for your Easter feast. Keep things really easy and buy biscuits or buns at your local bakery for your family to make into strawberry shortcakes (by adding sliced berries and whipped cream) or hot cross buns (by marking with a cross in frosting)—two traditional favorites on Easter.

Easter Crafts For Preschoolers

Give your little ones something to get excited about other than the chocolate this Easter. Here are some simple crafts and activities that are perfect for little hands!

11. Make an Easter Egg Globe

Akin to a snow globe, this is an easy Easter craft that your kids will love to display long after the holiday is over! Head to your nearest craft store and pick up plastic sealable jars, glue, waterproof springtime trinkets, and some colorful glitter.

Then, with supervision, help your toddler to adhere their chosen figurines to the inside of the lid, making sure that you can fit them through the mouth of the jar. Once dry, have them fill the jar up with water and add in their glitter. Finally, apply glue over the thread of the jar (the grooves along the outer band of the mouth of the jar) and seal the lid on top. Allow time to dry and then they will be ready to let glitter rain all over their spring scene!

12. Create Handprint & Footprint Art

Every parent loves a keepsake item and Easter is a fantastic time for your little bunny to make something for you to cherish forever! Print out a large image of a bunny or have their hand draw one themselves. Just make sure that the ears are big enough to fit their feet!

Then, with a roller and some skin-safe paint, have them stamp their feet within the ears. Another alternative is to leave the ears out of the drawing and have their hands printed in their place. This adorable Easter decor can be pulled out every year to help spruce up your holiday spread! Take a look at all of our cute Easter craft ideas that will keep your little kids hoppy.

13. Decorate An Easter Egg Tree

Here's the perfect activity for kids experiencing Christmas tree withdrawal! Decorate a tree (indoors or outside, depending on the weather) with plastic Easter eggs and any other spring decor (such as pastel ribbons or tissue paper flowers) for your holiday guests to admire.

14. Read Easter and Spring Children's Books

Gather the kids and curl up with a good book, especially if Easter falls on a rainy day this year. Browse our lists of books for kids of all ages to stock up on great children's books about Easter, bunnies, and spring.

Easter Activities For Older Kids

Get the bigger kids in on Easter fun as well! These Easter activities for kids who are getting older will seem less "babyish" and more appealing for finicky kiddos.

15. Easter Egg Hunt

While the little kids hunt for candy and toys on Easter morning, plan a similar Easter egg hunt for the older kids when the sun goes down! Glow in the dark eggs can be stuffed with small sums of money, beauty products, headphones, jerky, and other small prizes that they will enjoy. Assign each tween and teen a color of egg to search for so that you can tailor the goodies to appeal to each of your children.

16. Make A Springtime Wreath

Easter crafts don't have to just be for kids! Head to your local craft store and grab a basic wreath frame or styrofoam ring along with your preferred decor. This can range from faux floral pieces, eggs, pom poms, ribbon, or anything else your teens see fit. This DIY craft is quite easy to complete, but there are lots of online tutorials to walk you through the steps as well.

17. Create A Homemade Easter Basket

This unique centerpiece is an easy Easter craft that only requires yarn, glue, water, and an inflated balloon! Simply combine glue and water in a disposable bowl. Coat the yarn in the mixture and then wrap it around the balloon. Let it dry overnight.

Then, pop the balloon and remove the deflated pieces from the hardened yarn. Finally, press the top of your egg-shaped figurine inward to create your basket! This is a perfect place to keep Easter treats on the brunch table!

Easter Activities for Teenagers

Easter is a holiday that is often associated with younger children, but there are plenty of fun and engaging activities that tweens and teens can enjoy as well.

18. Epic Egg Decorating Competition

Forget those basic egg-dyeing kits when it comes to tempting your teens into crafting! Turn decorating into a full-blown contest that appeals to teens' competitive nature and creativity.

Set out a wide variety of supplies—for example, we use everything from watercolor paints and permanent markers to holographic glitter and bits of washi tape. Create challenge categories like "Most Creative," "Best Pop Culture Reference," or "Most Likely to Go Viral on Social Media" to keep the stakes high.

19. Next-Level Scavenger Hunt

My 15-year-old daughter would rather die than participate in a traditional egg hunt, but she got totally into our neighborhood scavenger hunt last Easter.

Create challenging clues that require actual thinking (teens hate being talked down to), and hide items or clues around your neighborhood. We've hidden everything from gift cards to small electronics. The trick is making the hunt challenging enough that they feel accomplished when they solve the clues. Last year, we incorporated QR codes that led to video clues—the kids went nuts for it!

20. Easter Bake-Off Challenge

I've discovered that even the most phone-obsessed teens will put down their devices when there's something delicious to create (and eat!).

Instead of just baking cookies together, frame it as a friendly competition inspired by baking shows. Provide various ingredients and decorating supplies, set a time limit, and let them go wild. The best part? You get to be the judge and sample all their creations.

21. Easter Movie Marathon With a Twist

Movie marathons are always a hit, but with a little creativity, you can make them more interactive. We create Easter movie bingo cards with things like "character mentions spring" or "egg appears on screen."

Some go-to movies for us include Hop (cue laughter at the candy factory scenes), Rise of the Guardians (for the cooler vibe), and—don't laugh—It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown, because tradition dies hard in this house! Popcorn, candy, and comfy pillows make this a chill activity that even your most antisocial teen will appreciate.

22. Community Service Project

The thing that surprised me most as a parent was discovering how much teenagers actually want to make a difference—they just need the right opportunity. Encourage your eldest kids to help at community events like egg hunts for kids with special needs, visiting nursing homes, or taking some shelter dogs for a stroll in the great outdoors. It's a powerful way for teens to realize they can make a real impact.

Fun Easter Activities for Adults

Adults can have fun on Easter as well as kids, including these parent-approved options for those who want to enjoy something a bit more mature.

23. Go on a Hike or Nature Walk

Easter weekend usually brings that first truly gorgeous spring weather. So, ditch the scheduled sit-down meal, pack a picnic lunch, and head into the great outdoors with some friends. Something about being in nature during this season of renewal feels especially appropriate. Plus, it helps work off all that chocolate we know we’ll be eating later!

24. Boozy Brunch With Friends

Once we sent the teens off to their own activities, the adults in our neighborhood started a tradition of rotating houses for Easter brunch.

Last year was my turn to host, setting up the mimosa and Bloody Mary bar on my porch while my friend Jen brought her famous quiche. I’ll be the first to admit that there's something wonderfully indulgent about sipping champagne at 11 AM while catching up with friends—all without having to monitor how many jellybeans the kids are sneaking.

25. Grown-Up Egg Hunt

This has become our neighborhood's most anticipated Easter tradition! Everyone brings a dozen plastic eggs filled with mini liquor bottles, scratch-off tickets, gift cards, or other adult treats.

My husband still brags about finding the egg with the $50 Amazon gift card two years ago. The best part? Watching a group of 40-somethings sprinting across my backyard like excited children—except with cocktails in hand!

26. Game Night With an Easter Twist

We've turned Easter eve into our annual game night, with each couple bringing their favorite board game and a holiday snack. Things got hilariously competitive last year during Easter-themed Pictionary when my normally quiet neighbor Tom had to draw "Easter bunny in a swimming pool." The laughter (and maybe the spiked punch) had us in tears!

27. Spring Cleaning

While spring cleaning doesn’t sound exciting, tackling spaces in your home over the Easter weekend can really make a difference to your personal organization bucket list and even your mental health. Plus, you can box up whatever is not destined only for the garbage bin and share your lightly-used items with others by donating them to a local charity. Then, go treat yourself! After all, spring is a perfect time to rock a new pedicure…

Other Easter Traditions

Don't let the fun stop there; try embracing some other traditions that might make this Easter the most memorable one yet!

28. Give A Gift Basket

Teach kids to perform a random act of kindness this Easter and put together a gift basket for an elderly relative or neighbor. Get creative with the contents to make this a more fun and meaningful activity. For example, have the kids fill plastic Easter eggs with nice notes that say things like, "You're egg-cellent!" and "Sweetest neighbor ever."

29. Go To Church

Last, but certainly not least, observe the origins of the holiday by attending services at your family's church. Easter Sunday is by far the busiest for church attendance, so arrive early with activities to keep your kids engaged, such as Easter-themed coloring pages, stickers, and a fresh pack of crayons (psst—perhaps the Easter bunny might bring some?!).

30. Host an Easter Egg Hunt

Organize a fun and exciting Easter egg hunt for kids and adults alike! Hide colorful eggs filled with small toys, treats, or handwritten notes around your backyard, home, or a local park. To make it more engaging, create a mix of easy and challenging hiding spots depending on the participants' ages. Themes or special "golden eggs" with unique prizes can add an extra layer of excitement to the activity, bringing everyone together for a memorable celebration.

Easter Activities for All

Easter has evolved so much for our family over the years—from simple egg hunts when the kids were little to our current mix of teen activities and adult celebrations. What makes these traditions special isn't their perfection but the connections they create. Regardless of how you celebrate, the core of the Easter holiday remains the same: new beginnings, appreciating the ones we love, and of course, eating way too much chocolate along the way.
