Dalmatian Costume
Dalmatian Costume
Time: 3 hours
Effort: Some sewing
Materials:
- A picture of a Dalmatian (as a reference to get the spots just right!)
- Black fabric marker
- White sweatshirt or jacket with a hood
- White sweatpants
- White shoes and socks
- White fur
- Cardboard
- Ribbon (for collar)
- Scissors
- Needle and thread
- Child-safe makeup no smear black and white (optional)
Instructions: Make yourself comfortable and get ready to spot! With the marker, begin making spots on the sweat suit, socks, and shoes.
Next, cut two small triangles out of the white fur. These will be the ears. Spot them up, as well. To make the tail, cut two small curved pieces of out of the fur, and sew them together. This should result in a cute, slightly curved tail.
Sew the ears and tail on. Make a dog tag out of cardboard, and write your child's name in pen. Slip the tag onto the ribbon.
When your child has the costume on, loosely tie the ribbon around his neck (don't put one on a child who's younger than 4).
If your child is old enough, you can put a few spots on his face and color the end of his nose, or you can cover his whole face in white and then spot it up.
