Highway Costume

Follow these simple directions to create a Highway costume for Halloween or any other day you feel like playing dress-up.

Highway Costume

Time: 30 minutes

Effort: Quick and easy - no sewing required

Materials:

  • Miniature cars, such as Hotwheels or Matchbox
  • Black shirt and pants
  • Yellow tape
  • White tape
  • Glue

Instructions: Have your child put on the black pants and shirt, then put yellow tape in the middle of his body and white tape to look like roads and glue cars on!

Variation:

  • White tape
  • Safety pins
  • 5 x 7 index cards
  • Black felt tip marker
  • Black body suit
  • Black leotard or black pants

Instructions: Place white tape down the center of your child's back Make and pin signs to hips and shoulders saying yield, stop, curve ahead, wide or soft shoulders, speed zone ahead, etc. On the front of the black sweatsuit, place the yellow electrical tape to look like the lines on a road. Then hot glue plastic cars in the lanes. Roll up the orange tagboard to look like a construction cone. Staple a piece of elastic to the cone to fit under the child's chin.
