Pennywise the Clown Costume

Follow these simple directions to create a Pennywise the Clown costume.

Pennywise the Clown Costume

Time: 1 hour (including makeup time)

Effort: Easy - no sewing required

Materials:

  • Clown costume: similar to Pennywise's (Can be bought off the Internet or pulled together
  • from clothes and material you already have.)
  • Makeup set: white, black, blue, and red
  • White gloves
  • Black shoes
  • Baldy clown wig with red hair
  • Big red nose
  • Helium balloons

Instructions: First, put on the costume. Of course, this costume should look somewhat similar to the Pennywise costume, but your child could also just be a generic scary clown. The balloons and scary face will cause people to think of Pennywise anyway. Then it's makeup time. First, with a black makeup pencil, 'sketch' out the Pennywise face design (looking at a picture helps). If you're not a good artist, find a friend who is, and who is willing to draw it for you. After that, paint the parts on your face that should be white. Then do the details (eyes, eyebrows, lips). You can look at any face paint book for a clown and then add some scary elements like fangs, blood, etc. Lastly, attach the nose. After that, just put on your shoes, wig, and gloves. Hold some balloons, and you're ready to go!

Tips: Best to order your stuff online; much bigger variety. The face painting part will take the longest, and the more effort you put into it, the better (and scarier) it will be. Believe me, many people are terrified of evil clowns and your child will be the scariest guy (or girl) in the whole neighborhood!
