Tornado Costume

Follow these simple directions to create a Tornado costume for Halloween or any time you'd like to play dress-up.

Tornado Costume

Time: 1 to 2 hours

Effort: A bit more advanced - sewing definitely required

Materials:

  • Fishing line
  • Gray sweatshirt
  • Gray sweatpants
  • Needle
  • Scissors
  • Small houses, street benches, cars, horses, etc. (dollhouse furniture works well)
  • Gray sheet (optional)
  • Face paints (optional)
  • Hair spray or gel (optional)
  • Leaves (optional)

Instructions: Sew pieces of fishing line to the sweatshirt and pants, then tie on the small houses, cars, trees, and anything else you might have picked up. Put the outfit on and spin in a circle. It will look like the items are blowing in the wind!

Variation: Dye a sheet gray. Cut a hole in the middle for your head and hem to fit. Sew up the sides. Sew the pieces of fishing line to sheet and attach "dollhouse" items. Paint a lightening streak on one side of your face and clouds on the other side. Gel or spray your hair and stick leaves in it to make it look windblown.
