Washing Machine Costume

Follow these simple directions to create a Washing Machine costume.

Washing Machine Costume

Time: 2 to 3 hours

Effort: Quick and easy - no sewing required

Materials:

  • Large, square cardboard box
  • White paint and brush, or white spray paint
  • Empty laundry detergent bottles
  • Some old clothes and towels
  • Hot glue gun or superglue
  • Utility knife
  • Markers

Instructions: Cut the flaps off the cardboard box, then flip the box upside down, and cut three sides of a square hole that's large enough for your head. Fold and flip up the last side of the square. This will be the washer's lid and will go behind your head. Cut two holes in the front of the box for your arms. Paint the box white and let it dry completely. Draw on knobs with the markers. Then, flip the box upside down again and glue sections of the clothing to the inside of the head hole. Let dry. Flip the box over again, reach inside and pull the clothes so that they are hanging out of the head hole. Glue the empty bottles to the top back edge of the box and let dry. If you accidentally cut the head hole too big, fold up towels to "pad" your shoulders.
