Turkey Place Cards

These cute turkey nametags will dress up your Thanksgiving table and save some confusion over seating your guests.

Level: Easy

Time involved: One to two hours

Materials:

  • Seven 2-inch oval wooden pieces (Woodsies)
  • Brown, red, green, yellow, blue, and orange craft paints
  • Paintbrushes
  • Foam plate
  • Flat 3-inch wooden circle (These can be found in bags in the wood section of a craft store.)
  • Two 1 12 inch oval wooden pieces
  • Small triangular wooden piece for beak
  • Glue gun
  • Plastic eyes
  • Black calligraphy marker
  • Clear acrylic finish spray
  1. Paint six of the 2-inch wooden ovals each a different color: red, yellow, green, blue, orange, and brown. Paint the remaining 2-inch wooden oval and the circle brown. Paint the two 1 12 inch oval pieces orange and the triangular piece red. Paint a second coat if necessary. Allow these to dry.

  2. Glue the six wooden ovals (feathers) onto the back of the top half of the circle. Glue the brown oval piece in the middle of the circle to form a head. Glue the triangle nose onto the head. Then glue the two smaller oval pieces flat onto the bottom of the body to form feet that will make the turkey stand up.

  3. Glue two plastic eyes on the head. Write the name of the guest on the bottom of the circle using a calligraphy marker.

  4. Spray the project with clear acrylic finish spray and allow it to dry for several hours.
