Snow or Leaf Removal

Kids can build their snow and leaf removal skills -- and make a bit of money -- by offering their services to others.

Snow or Leaf Removal

Materials

  • Snow shovel
  • Whisk broom
  • Leaf rake
  • Yard broom
  • Large bags
Directions

A snow-shoveling service is in great demand in those areas of the country where winter snowfalls are the rule rather than the exception. Be available to clear driveways, sidewalks, and steps immediately after it has stopped snowing. On most days, this will mean doing the work before school. For a steady income, arrange a winter-long contract with neighbors.

Leaf raking can be done after school and during weekends. Be prepared with a rake, broom, and bags. Know exactly where the bagged leaves are to be left or stored and make sure you do a thorough job. For a steady income, also arrange for a fall contract.

Note: If you are reliable, punctual, polite and do a good job, word-of-mouth will result in more jobs.
