Q
How would I go about getting a conflict resolution or mediation group going at our local schools? As far as I know, we don't have any programs to deal with bullies and negative behaviors at school.
A
I applaud your willingness to get involved. I have a personal bias as a peer mediator trainer. I believe a good peer-mediation program is the most valuable tool a school has in combating violence and bullying in any school. Contact your local school counselor and parent groups. Talk to them about your ideas. There are many national groups and publications about peer mediation and dealing with bullying at school.

Websites that I would recommend are www.creducation.org and www.hamfish.org. You can also type in peer mediation and get many more, perhaps even a program in your state.
