Making Valentine's Day crafts together is a perfect way to spend time with your little love! These three easy Valentine's Day crafts can be done in less than a half-hour each and create keepsakes that can be treasured forever.

1. Wrapped in Love

This activity will keep kids focused and busy for at least a half hour, and is also a great way to practice their fine motor skills. Sarah from HowWeeLearn.com describes this simple craft:

"We simply cut a heart shape out of thick cardboard. I then cut little snips all around the outside of the heart. I was thinking it would grip the yarn a little better. Whether it did on not, I'm not really sure.

Then we got to wrapping the hearts in yarn ... and love ..."

When you tie off the ends, leave plenty of yarn to hang your child's creation.

• Have your child type or write a personalized message onto a piece of cardstock.

• String the stick through, and you have a fun, unique Valentine where the only sweetness comes from the sentiment, not loads of processed sugar!

Simply Lovely Paperweight

Long after your kids have grown, you'll find a heart-stamped or funny-faced, hand-crafted paperweight still sitting on your desk, reminding you of simpler times. The best part of this craft is the preparation. Of course, if your child isn't into hearts, they can always add some googly eyes and turn them into a pet rock version of your family!

How to Make Simply Lovely Paperweights

• Head outside with your little ones to pick the perfect small rocks or stones for their project.
• Wash and dry the rocks.
• While the rocks are drying, hold a scavenger hunt to find the rest of your supplies which could include (but aren't limited to): white glue or Mod Podge, water-based tempera paint and brushes, craft paper scraps, tissue paper, glitter, and glitter glue.
• Hand the rocks and a towel to your little ones and have them rub the rocks until they are completely dry. This will give you time to cut out your heart templates! Cut out a heart shape inside an index card or other heavy stock paper. Use the outside of the cutout as your stencil and tape it to the rock.
• Give your child free rein to decorate the heart-shaped cutout.She can cover the inside of the heart shape with white glue or Mod Podge and paste paper scraps on it, or sprinkle glitter to cover the heart, or paint the heart shape with tempera paint. Let her creative juices flow!
• Remove the template and let it dry. Wrap it for your child to give as a Valentine's Day gift for their parents, grandparents, or teacher.
