Creating Christmas Traditions

For kids and adults alike, a sense of continuity over the years can bring even more joy and warmth to the Christmas holiday season. You probably already have some traditions that you associate with Christmas. Share these with your kids, but try to create new ones just for them. Here are some ideas.

Activities

Christmas-y activities abound and stand up well to yearly repetition. Some of them are bound to appeal to your family. Get a group together and go caroling every year, or take a family trip to the local ice rink for some amateur skating. If you're a family that likes movies, make going to the cinema on Christmas Day a ritual. You might find that you have the whole theater to yourselves. Pick a film that everyone will enjoy -- this may be one of the few times during the year when everyone has enough time off to see a flick together.
